1. Old Pond

Japanese (Romaji):
Furu ike ya / kawazu tobikomu / mizu no oto

English Translation:
Old pond—
a frog jumps in,
the sound of water.


2. Summer Grasses

Japanese (Romaji):
Natsukusa ya / tsuwamono-domo ga / yume no ato

English Translation:
Summer grasses—
all that remains
of warriors’ dreams.


3. First Winter Rain

Japanese (Romaji):
Hatsu shigure / saru mo komino o / hoshige nari

English Translation:
First winter rain—
even the monkey
seems to want a little coat.


4. Sick on a Journey

Japanese (Romaji):
Tabi ni yande / yume wa kareno o / kakemeguru

English Translation:
On a journey, ill—
my dreams wander
over withered fields.


5. Spring Sea

Japanese (Romaji):
Haru no umi / hinemosu notari / notari kana

English Translation:
Spring sea—
all day long
waves rise, then fall.
